The agreement
These terms are between you and Rice Cracker LLC of Oakland, California ("Rice Cracker Club", "we"). Using our website, creating an account, or buying anything means you accept them. If you don't accept them, don't use the site. To buy anything you must be able to form a binding contract — if you are a minor, that means a parent or guardian is doing this, not you.
Your account
Accounts are passwordless: signing in emails a single-use code to your address, so whoever controls your email inbox controls your account. Keep that inbox secure, give us an address you actually control, and don't share sign-in codes with anyone — we will never ask you for one. You are responsible for what happens under your sign-in. Placing a paid order as a guest creates an account record for your email address (your order history is waiting if you later sign in); it grants no one access to anything. We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the site or these terms.
Orders
- Prices are in US dollars. Payment is processed by Stripe on its hosted checkout page; we never see your card details.
- We ship to US addresses only. Any shipping charge (or free shipping) is shown as its own line before you pay.
- An order is confirmed when Stripe confirms your payment; for one-time orders we then email a receipt to the address from checkout. Until payment is confirmed, an order is pending and nothing is owed either way.
- Product listings can change or be discontinued; if we cannot fulfill a confirmed order we will tell you and refund it.
- Something wrong with what arrived — or didn't arrive? Email [email protected] and we'll make it right. Nothing in these terms limits any consumer right the law doesn't let us limit.
Coffee subscriptions
- A subscription bills monthly through Stripe until you pause or cancel it. You can manage it from your account page or the product page, and manage cards and invoices in Stripe's billing portal.
- Pausing stops billing without ending the plan; nothing accrues while paused, and billing resumes on the next cycle after you resume.
- Changing size takes effect at your next renewal. No mid-cycle charge, no proration — the month you already paid for ships as ordered.
- Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you've paid for: you receive everything already paid, there are no further charges, and you can change your mind any time before the period ends.
- Losing your account is the exception: deleting it cancels any active subscription immediately, including remaining deliveries in a period you already paid for. The deletion screen warns you before you do it. The same happens, without warning, if we suspend or close your account under Acceptable use.
Reviews and things you submit
Reviews require an account, one review per product. Submitting one grants us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it on the site alongside the display name you gave. Reviews are moderated: they appear only after approval, a "verified" badge is applied only when our records show you bought the product, and we may decline or remove reviews that are unlawful, deceptive, abusive, off-topic, or spam. Say what you actually think — just make it about the coffee.
Catering inquiries
Submitting the catering form is an inquiry, not a booking. Dates, menus and prices are only agreed when we confirm them to you explicitly. Until then neither of us is committed to anything, and either of us can walk away.
Acceptable use
Don't attack the site, probe or bypass its security, evade the bot checks or rate limits, scrape it, submit forms by automation, use our forms to spam anyone, or impersonate other people. We rate limit and bot-check the public endpoints and we enforce this section by blocking, suspending, or closing accounts.
Our content
The site — its text, artwork, branding and code — belongs to Rice Cracker LLC or its licensors. These terms give you no license to reuse any of it beyond viewing the site; reviews you submit stay yours, licensed to us as described above.
Third-party services
Checkout and the billing portal are provided by Stripe under Stripe's own terms. Links to Instagram or other external sites leave our site and are governed by those services' terms. How data flows to the small set of providers we use is described in the Privacy Policy.
Disclaimers and liability
The site is provided "as is" and "as available"; we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, and our total liability for any claim connected to the site or a purchase is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions don't allow parts of this section, in which case it applies only as far as the law permits — nothing here strips you of rights that can't be waived.
Ending things
You can stop using the site at any time, and you can permanently delete your account from your account page (see the subscription note above; the exact deletion inventory is in Your California Privacy Rights). We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive — content licenses, disclaimers, liability limits, governing law — survive.
Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and disputes belong to the state or federal courts located in Alameda County, California — unless the law of your place of residence says otherwise and can't be contracted around. If we change these terms materially we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect; continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new terms. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stands.
